Radiografia Comprimit

Radiological Screening System for COVID-19 Severity Diagnosis

This radiological study uses Artificial Intelligence to detect the severity of the pneumonia caused by COVID-19

Description of the Study:

  • Title: Radiographic Screening of Chest Inspection in Patients with COVID19.
  • Principal Investigator: Francisco Javier Albiol Colomer.
  • Co-investigators: Luis Caballero Ontanaya, Salvador Tortajada Velert, Mariam de la Iglesia Vayá, Antonio Albiol Colomer, Alberto Albiol Colomer, Jon Ander Gómez Adrian and Roberto Paredes Palacios.
  • Centers of implementation: Institut de Física Corpuscular, Universitat Politècnica de València, Fundació per al Foment de la Investigació Sanitaria y Biomédica de la Comunitat Valenciana.

Objectives of the Study:

Principal Objective: Development of a radiological screening system based on Artificial Intelligence to help identify the severity of pneumonia generated by COVID-19.

More about this Study:

One of the symptomatic aspects of COVID-19 is the effect of pneumonia. Using machine learning technologies, the study will help develop a radiological screening system based on Artificial Intelligence to help identify the most serious cases of COVID-19.

IFIC, the Universitat Politècnica de València and the Foundation FISABIO have worked on several studies on radiology, medical physics and Artificial Intelligence. Among others, IFIC and UPV participated in the development and implementation of Machine Learning techniques to help diagnose breast cancer through mammograms.

IFIC: The Institut de Física Corpuscular (IFIC) is a joint center of the Higher Council for Scientific Research and the University of Valencia dedicated to research in Nuclear, Particle and Astroparticle Physics and its applications both in Medical Physics and in other fields of the Science and Technology.

FISABIO: The Foundation for the Promotion of Health and Biomedical Research of Valencia Region, FISABIO, is a nonprofit scientific and healthcare entitiy, whose primary purpose is to encourage, to promote and to develop scientific and technical health and biomedical research in Valencia Region.
